Drusilla Renshaw 1880-1969

Drusilla Renshaw

Drusilla Renshaw was my paternal grandmother, known to friends and relatives as 'Lilla'. Born at Wolstanton in 1880, she was a nurse during the 1914-18 war. She married my grandfather  Albert Manchester in December 1916 and my father  Thomas Lee Manchester was born in 1918.

They lived first in Thistley Hough, Newcastle-u-Lyme and later moved to 5 Lower Milehouse Lane in Cross Heath. She was separated from my grandfather and later suffered an accident in a garden fire which left her crippled and house-bound after surgery on her leg.

One of the occasional visitors to her home in Milehouse Lane was a certain lady by the name of Vera Atkins, who for obvious reasons knew my grandmother's nephews  George and  John Starr.

She died of pneumonia in 1969.

See my family album for more photographs of my grandparents.
